Well,I thought I moved ahead, seems I might be wrong. I was looking at the ages of John Negus and Dorothy Wright in 1783,and I realized that maybe Henry and Elizabeth weren't John's parents.
John's age in 1783,if born about 1767:
16
Dorothy's age in 1783:
27
There goes that line out the window.
I went back and looked through the children of John and Dorothy's oldest son John and his wife,Dinah Rippin(something I didn't do earlier because they were numerous):
1.John(c.1817-1818)
2.Catherine(c.1819-)
3.William(c.1820-)
4.Thomas(c.1820-)
5.Dinah(c.1821-)
6.Mary(c.1823-)
7.Emma(c.1825-)
8.John(c.1827-)
9.Joseph(c.1830-)
10.Dorothy(c.1833-)
11.Edward(c.1835-)
Children of John's brother Francis and Sarah Lenton:
1.Martha(c.1817-1905)md.Thomas Fox 1847 Oundle
2.John(c.1819-1899)md.Harriet Smith May 27 1849 Barton upon Humber,Lincolnshire
(they were living w/Harriet's parents in B-u-H in 1851)
3.Francis(c.1822-)
4.William(c.1826-1827)
5.Ann(c.1828-)md.Henry Wilson 1851 Oundle
6.Miles(c.1831-1832)
7.Louisa(c.1834-)
(children of both brothers were all baptized in Oundle)
There are no children in either family named Edmund or Elizabeth, and I do not(yet)see any information on Martha,Matthew or any other siblings of John and Francis. I do,however, notice that the names Francis and Mary are indeed in the list. This points to the possibility that John(Sr.)'s parents were Francis Negus and Mary Elderkin,md.October 5 1746 in Warmington. I found at least four children of this couple:
1.Anne(c.1748-)
2.William(c.1750-)
3.John(c.1753-)
4.Francis(c.1756-)
This would make John about 30 in 1783 when he married Dorothy, with Dorothy being about 33.
