Census lookup
« on: Tuesday 20 July 04 03:25 BST (UK) »
Being in Canada makes this tough. My uncle, Noel Sykes, died in the `1930's before I was born (1938).  It was a mysterious death, he being a chemist.  He lived either in Northallerton or the Ripon area.  His father was a postmaster John Ernest Sykes).  Any clues as to the year of death would be really appreciated.  Thanks, John

Hi John

Sorry we haven't been able to help you so far on this one.

Have you made any progress,  or do you have any further details that could help someone to find what you are looking for?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes

Sorry, that is all the info I have.  Unfortunately, I don't have any family left who would be able to add anything.  I may try going to the Royal Mail for details of my grandfather's different positions in Northallerton and Ripon.

THanks for trying.

John

Hi John

Perhaps surprisingly Ripon was actually in the West Riding of Yorkshire, though it is in the administrative county of North Yorkshire.  You may wish to consider trying the West Riding Board.

Good luck
