Aaah Carol, you are a bit early for me there.

Thomas Bell from Dalton born ~ 1831 was a joiner who married my 3xg aunt Jane Scott of Annan.  Even though they were both from DFS they married in Liverpool but returned to Annan.  Jane had more kids but died young.  I'm pretty sure Thomas returned to Liverpool and married a second time.

That's all I have on him though  :)

Don't give up hope Pam. Dalton isn't far from Dumfries and my Richard's grandfather, John Bell (b. 1770) was a joiner.John had two wives, the first of which was Margaret Wright, which is were the Wright-Bell comes in and the second wife was Janet Geddes. Could your line perhaps be from his second wife?
Might be worth checking out, although I am aware that Bell is a very common Scottish name!!!

They must be there-or I wouldn't be here!

Hi all,

I have found that Tunnage is a lonely name to be on too :(

Good luck with all your obscure ones!

Hi Nashua my great grandmothers sister married John Matthew Skuse at Old Church St Pancras 16 June 1856. I don't know where he came from, on 1871 census his birthplace says NK which I presume means not known, maybe it was same place as your Skuse family  best wishes   jabawak

Hi Jabawa,

Thanks for your reply. I have a Laurina Skuse born 1866 in Thornbury Gloucestershire. Her mother was Jane Skuse, father unknown. Jane was the daughter of Thomas Skuce from Malmesbury Wiltshire and Caroline?. Dont think there are any London connections, but will keep a note of your John Matthew Skuse just in case.

Good luck

Nashua
