Hi Everyone,

I think I may have the names of the couple:

John George CAIRNS b. 1881, Sunderland, England & d. 22 Sep 1965 in Vancouver General Hospital.

Florence Carr CAIRNS (nee LIDDELL) b. 1885, County Durham, England & d. 5 July 1961 at 6686 Clarendon St., Vancouver.

I don't have any children for them or when and how they came to Vancouver - so, any clues?

Thank you,
Kevin

If Florence died in 1961 aged 76, and this is her in the photo, I am wondering how old she may be here. I am thinking maybe in her 60s - lets say 65. So that would mean this photo might have been taken around 10 years earlier - 1951.

How does that date sound fashion wise? I'm sure China will know.

Of course she may be older which wold alter this guesstimate. Looking again, she could be into her early 70s I suppose?  :-\ So 1955? Looks ok to me.  :-\

A wee bit of information on the picture of the train car. In 1961 CN introduced its bold new

corporate branding with: red, black & grey with the now world-famous "noodle" logo. So going by

this information the picture would have been taken about 1961 or a bit later.

Hope this is of some help.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your comments.  I have found another possibility unfortunately. This one rang a very old bell with me because of the name "Kitty".  Here are their details:

Edward Francis M. DAVIS b. 1891 in Montevideo, Minnesota, USA & d. 1968 in Snohomish, Washington, USA

but he married in 1919 in Calgary,

Catherine (Kitty) FRANCIS b. 1902, Sunderland, England & d. Tacoma, Washington, USA

This couple had 5 children: Leonard Joseph, Eva Catherine, Mary Frances, Josephine, and Hugh Edward between 1919 and 1927.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,

There is a private tree on Ancestry for Ed, Kitty and children. The owner is active as of
yesterday. It has private photos of the Davis clan. I have sent them a message and asked
them to come along here and have a look at your photo.

Fingers crossed..

Cheers,
DB

The two people in your photo are my great-aunt & great-uncle - Kitty & Ed Davis.  If I can be of further assistance I can give you access to my family tree on ancestry.ca
