ann from australia wants to find ggfathers relations//samuel & mary mcgowan lived in camelon [scotland] came from ireland & settled in camelon [bothy close] [1845?] had children /  thomas,b 1872 / jessie,b1874. / jean,b1879./william,b1871./james, b 1873./ samuel,b1875,/john arnot,b 1888 /margaret,b1893? .
Ann's fathers name was PICKNELL with a history back to her ancester [bohun]who married king Henry the 4th and sired king henry the 5th. anns mothers name was mcgowan.

I'm off to the library tonight so I'll follow up what I find tomorrow (as long as the library has the census ).

So you expect to find the family in Camelon on the 1861/71/81/91 & 1901 census?

I went to check the Falkirk census but in 1891 it is 8 films long - that would take me a week!

This is 1881 and if you looked up any of the scottish born children on http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/ which is pay per view but gives you lots and lots of information for each image.  You will get Mary's maiden name which will help HUGELY for trying to find the marriage in Ireland.

Heyho.  I would love to find some of my family out in Austrailia, in fact anywhere!  I must be very unusual to have 100's of years of Scottish ancestry and not one of them emmigrated!
