Both the brothers above went to Canada in the 1890's I believe, however I have not found the records of their passage. I did find census records but very vague for Richard in Saskatchewan, not sure if it is correct. I then traced a census for a Richard R Russell in Toronto, this could be him if anyone can look this up and find more details than those published it would be terrific. Harry James returned to England again no trace on passenger lists that I can find.

Hi Peter,

Those early passenger lists don't really show enough details to positively identify someone. There is a Richard Russell born 1874 and aged 23 years travelling to Canada on the Parisian departing Liverpool to Quebec 9 Sept 1897. No other Russell travelling with him. No occupation and no destination unfortunately.

Regards
Sandra

1892 passenger list for R R Russell born about 1874 and aged 18 years. Liverpool to Quebec on the Sardinian arriving 2 May 1892. Looks like a Mr J Russell aged 27 years listed just above him so perhaps that is one to discount.

Hi Sandra, that could be it Mr J Russell could be Harry (J) Russell as he was born in 1865 so 1892 less 27 is 1865. thank you so much. Regards Peter.

PS All I have got to do is trace this record for myself

Hi Sandra, I found the entry and think that the mark before the J Russell is very likely to be the H and mistaken for Mr. As no other entries have got a Mr before the male name I think it is fairly safe to assume this is H. All other information appears to be correct IE time of going, to Russell's with ages that correspond, marital status etc.

If anybody can look up records in Toronto for the RR Russell recorded would be most helpful if this is the one born in 1874 I will then have his wife's name etc, regards Peter.
