Malky,
Thankyou for the information and the link.
Geoffrey John is a son. Again I have no further information. I know who he married but cannot find him on the electoral roll living with the person he married. There was another daughter as well who was born in Australia. Can't find her either.
Michael Anthony Barrett seems to be the solicitor.

Ahh well, and here's me thinking that everything was transcribed up to December 31 1983.
I learn every day.

There is a disclaimer (in bold!) on the home page!!

Coverage for deaths here: http://www.freebmd.org.uk/progressD.shtml
Looks like 100% up to 1972, and first 2 quarters of 1973?

Births are almost 100% up to 1970, but there are some gaps (1940, 1943, 1963, 1964 and 1966).
Marriages are good up to 1963, with some coverage to 1975, and a blip in Q4 1951.

Ahh, but it does not say which ones.

In reality, my shortcut links miss the "Home page" and go straight to the "Search page".
As I said, I learn every day.

Hilary, the solicitors changed a couple of times. They are now here :-

Check the "History".

Perhaps a short query to them may open some doors.

Regards

Malky

By the way Malky, I found both deaths (him & her) on findmypast.co.uk
They seem to be more up to date.

FindMyPast, and Ancestry, are commercial companies.
FreeBMD (and FreeReg and FreeCen) are run by volunteers, using volunteer transcribers! ;D

FindMyPast has a marriage in Quarter 4 1972 Bromley district for a lady with the same first name as the child born in 1946 but no middle initial included. Could that be her?

A search of recent electoral registers finds a couple with the correct forenames living not too far away from where the marriage was registered. The age range given on electoral roll also matches.
Berks / Oxon: Eltham, Annetts, Wiltshire (surname not county), Hawkins, Pembroke, Partridge
Dorset / Hants: Derham, Stride, Purkiss, Sibley
Yorkshire: Pottage, Carr, Blackburn, Depledge
Sussex: Goodyer, Christopher, Trevatt
Lanark: Scott (soldier went to Jersey CI)
Jersey: Fowler, Huelin, Scott

I saw that one as well. However according to the death registration of the father the surname is not Cox but instead Gilbert. I can't find any marriages involving a Gilbert. Perhaps they married elsewhere.
