Great Grandmother Thompson & Son - Restoration & Dating please

Hi,
I've attached two photographs which I would like help with.

The first is my Great Grandmother.  Unfortunately, the quality of the photo is very poor.  I would appreciate if anybody is able to restore the photo to give a sharper image.

The second photo is my Great Grandmother's son.
 
All I know about these people is that their surname is Thompson and they were from Northern Ireland. Any information that you can tell from the photos such as possible dating would be much appreciated.

My version not too good I'm afraid as sadly her face is blurred in the photo, I've tried to sharpen it up a bit but still not very clear - sorry.
