Just seen your post.
My father in law was the licensee of the C & A from 1952 to 1961.
The family lived on the top floor of the building.
The place no longer looks as it did then then top floor having been demolished.

Interesting! I wonder who ran the pub in the 64 years between my great-great-grandfather and your father-in-law. Next time I'm in Teesside I'm going to go to the pub, just to say I've been as much as anything else.

(I've got 12 or 13 pubs in my family history software that my ancestors and their relatives ran. It's going to make a good pub crawl one day.)

I was in Redcar in April and June this year.  On a Friday night there appears to be some sort of motor bike rally at the pub.  I didn't go in !!

Hi - working through my ancestors and have found my Great Grandad (Alfred E Allison) was the landlord here in 1911.  Does anyone have photos of what the building was like then? Or pictures of landlords (would love to know what he looked like!).
