Do  know where John N Caswell or other members of this family were buried? Perhaps we can find Earl there as well.

"Fern Headley" was nee "Helena Fern Caswell", m. 1926 (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:K8NN-NGG ), died 1967 (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VP4T-TB4 ) - could be worth looking for her obit to see if/how siblings are named.

Good thinking Jorose.  I found the obit for Helena Fern Headley.  It mentions her 4 children and says she is survived by sister Daisy Caswell of San Gabriel and 2 brothers in Canada.  The brothers aren't names specifically, but they must be Ray and Earl.

Unfortunately, it doesn't say where in Canada, but this means that in 1967, Earl was still alive and in Canada.

Thanks so very much Jorose, Priscilla and RunKitty, sorry for delay in replying. It had occurred to me that maybe as there was a US connection with his sisters maybe Earl had gone there but obviously he was still alive in Canada in 1967.
At the very least this narrows down the time frame for searching for his demise. I have to say though he certainly seems to have stayed well hidden.

The death reg. certificate for John N. Caswell doesn't give where buried, just the date 2.March.1931 and McDougall Brown of Danforth Ave as the undertakers.

Again my thanks for your help and taking an interest,

Chooch

Presuming he remained in Ontario you could order a search:
http://www.ontario.ca/government/how-get-copy-ontario-death-certificate-online

(see "Order a death search").
The cost is $15 for a five-year period, so you want to narrow it down as much as possible.

At familysearch there are also some cemetery records for Toronto as image sets :
https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1627831
Some are indexed, but a larger amount are just as images.  Perhaps you can find some of the family here.

Hi jorose

Thanks for the information. I have looked on the 'familysearch' site but no luck so far and I'll have to narrow down his whereabouts before considering the certificate search I guess.
Again thank you, I do appreciate all the help I given to me very much.

Just to throw these into the mix - Not sure how popular the name Earl Caswell would be but there are a couple of entries in Canada Voters List worth investigation - 1953 - Earl Caswell - inspector - 8 Linden Street St Pauls Ontario.

another in 23 Botfield Avenue York Ontario 1957 - Earl Caswell - Accountant - Verna Caswell

E D Caswell in Nova Scotia appears to be another man (still living, but here is a link to his wife's obituary):
http://www.serenitylindsayfuneralhome.ca/memsol.cgi?user_id=1112754

I see that Ruby was buried "Mount Pleasant Cemetery".
http://www.rootschat.com/links/01fec/
 - she is listed here as "Rubina Geraldine".

Perhaps if you could make contact with descendants from the other children of John Nelson Caswell, they'll remember something about "Uncle Earl"?

Hi,

Verna Ethel Caswell's obit in the Toronto Star -  she was the wife of the late Earl Caswell.  Her maiden name was Rideout.  She died Jan 28, 1993.  There are 2 sons - D and W Caswell.  Also, 3 grandchildren.  She is buried in Glendale Memorial Gardens.
