Just looking a bit further and it says that William Horton Senior who married Eleanor Killey was born in Shropshire but can't find any details about his birth?

William Horton the father was born in Condover circa 1808/9 per the 1851 census (in which he is a waterman, in Back Parliament Street)

There is a baptism for a William Horton in Condover on 4 September 1808; a base child of Anne Horton.

Someone else is researching this family https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/horton-family/conversations/messages/460

Hi, just a bit confused after doing a bit more research...

William Henry Horton's father William Horton I think was born 1808/9 Shropshire as ShaunJ mentioned above.
When looking through the documents I noticed that when he married Jane Martin in 1829 in Liverpool he is listed as a Shipwright...and in the 1841 census a Labourer...

When he married Eleanor Killey in 1848 he is listed as a Waterman and his father listed as a William Horton although his birth record doesn't state the name of his father so I am not sure if I have the correct William Horton?

Hmm - agreed - that doesn't look right does it!

1841 census in Bolton Street (location of Caxton Buildings) has:

William Horton 30 labourer
Jane Horton 30
Eliza  12
William 10
Mary 3
Ann 1

William and Jane not born in-county

Ann Jane Horton was baptised at St Peters on 25 Jan 1841 (from Caxton Buildings). William's occupation labourer. A birth certificate would give you Jane's maiden name but I can't see a birth registration for her.

Hi, it makes sense that Jane had her baptism at St Peter's too so this must be correct?
