1871 Census look up....Edward Anderton
« on: Saturday 30 May 15 21:03 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am looking for Edward Anderton born 1861 in Meriden, Warwickshire, but can't locate him in 1871.

His parents were Jacob Anderton born 1840, died 1863 and Susannah Scattergood born 1838.

I have him on subsequent censuses.

Thanks in advance

Nicola

Hello,

Do you have his mother in 1871?
Where is he in 1881?

Heywood

In 1881 I think I have Edward at Priors Hardwick, Southam as an agricultural labourer. That is on FindMyPast.

I don't have Susannah.... I find it harder to trace on FindMyPast.

You might want to look at this.

The Edward you have in 1881 states place of birth as Birkwell.

1871 3164/17/7
Berkswell

George Thos Woodward 29 yrs
Susannah 33 yrs
Joh. Anderton 9 yrs stepson

Plus Woodward children.

There is, however, a marriage for George Woodward 1863 Meriden - possible spouse Sophia Clarke or Sarah Ward  :-\

There is a marriage for George Woodward and Sarah Ward 1863.

There is also a baptism, December 1863 for Ann Eliza Woodward, daughter of George and Sarah in Allesley.

The 1871 family of George and Susannah has Ann Eliza, 7 yrs born Allesley.

The next children in the family are baptised Meriden with parents George and Susannah.
So it looks as though George Woodward and Susannah get together abt 1866. Is John Anderton your Edward though?

Just seen that there is a death for Sarah Woodward in 1864.
