Edward Owen born Anglesey - March 1864

Hello,

I am trying to find some information about my grandfather who died before I was born.

The little information that I have so far gleaned is that he was originally from Anglesey and his birth details are:- Edward Owen born March 1864 - Anglesey 11b page 587.

At some stage he left Anglesey for Liverpool and worked here as a Blacksmith.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Maureen,

Thanks for the welcome.

When I started checking on our family history a few days ago I did not know the christian names of my grandfather or grandmother, it was by chance that my sister mentioned that they are buried in Toxteth Park cemetery in Liverpool.

Therefore checked the cemetery records and was able to determine what their names were which eventually led me to finding that Edward Owen and Helena Hughes married in September 1884 - Toxteth P 8b page 429.

I have no idea where Helena Hughes or her family originated from, it just mentioned that Helena lived in Liverpool at the time of her marriage.

At the moment I am reading about various tips on these forums on how to proceed!

I am new to this, when I tried to look at a census it took me to a website whereby I had to give debit card details before accessing their census files online.

The marriage was at St Philemon's Toxteth on August 4, 1884

Edward Owen, bachelor, 21, a smith, 55 Woodruff Street, father William Owen, cow-keeper
Helena Hughes, spinster, 22, same address, father William Hughes, mariner

Witnesses John Jones and Ann Greene or Greener

The censuses show that he was born in Liverpool circa 1863.

There are some submitted trees for this family on Ancestry, one of which has a birth certificate for Edward Owen born 19 February at 6 Harper Street, Toxteth Park, father William Owen, a general labourer, and Ann Owen formerly Spencer.
