This is my great grandfather on the right.
Do also note it is at Blackpool - Blackpool was where everyone loved visiting back then, sitting on the beach on the Promenade etc. All sorts of fun entertainment occurred, so this doesn't seem bizarre to me.
No, not at all bizarre, this was his career and he was at the centre of all the fun for several decades.

Sorry - this is all I know of him. There's a short clip here  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZ4vYsrFtws 1923 Blackpool Carnival where you catch two short glimpses of both our ancestors. Blink and you miss it, so here's a couple of screenshots to help.

If you google the 1923 Blackpool Carnival, it's an interesting story.
