Can you get better resolution of the Cap Badge please?

Have you any clues already?   like date,  age of the man, Town of residence?

I haven't got anything better of the cap badge TBH.
I am thinking it may be Royal Artillery but unsure.  I also think the man in question is John Jacobs, b1868, Great Bentley.  But haven't checked the other brothers of the lady in the picture.

Evening,

An observation (not an expert).7 button tunics of the style shown are typical of late (1917 ish) Canadian issue..Is it possible he was with the CEF? Collar dogs also point towards Canadian but I can't make out the detail..I've had a few looks at the CEF attestation records and there are a few Jacobs..so maybe not John pictured but a younger brother..aged late 30's?in the photo?

Hope this helps..

David

Just coming in on this, I've had a go at enlarging the photo but it becomes pixelated so not much good really, however I can't help wondering about the "East Lancashire Regiment" looking at the collar dog's, like I say it becomes distorted when enlarged but it looks to have a "Sphinx" type of design to it.

Probably a million miles away but just a thought  :-\

Firstly thank you ever so much for the replies guys.
I'm currently based in Cyprus, 2hrs ahead of UK and after a long weekend ;) I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer last night  :-[

However, there might be a link with the Canadian side of things.  I am away from my home computer at the moment so can't check but i'm sure there was (may have been mistaken) a record for John Jacobs moving to Canada during early 1900s.

I have UK mil records whereby he joined at 18, left after a period, got married in 1899, emigrated to Canada? then returned and re-enlisted.  Both times into the Royal Artillery which is why I asked about the RA uniform.

Once again, cheers for your help.  I'll get all my info in one place and continue digging  ;)
