Bethia Storry was my 2nd cousin 4 times removed, so all her descendants are related to me.
I have never been able to find a record of her marriage to William Pender.
The family at Tarrydews in 1841 is the correct one.
Whitburn was part of the parish of Livingston, from which it was disjoined in 1730. The baptisms of the children of William Pender and Bethia Storry were all in the parish of Whitburn. Claud in 1827 was the last one born at Cultsyke(foot) and Robert in 1830 the first born at Tarriedews.
I don't yet have the 1851 and 1861 census, but Bethia died at Knowe, Whitburn in 1863 and William at Dura, Cambusnethan in 1879.
I have family and/or death information about all eleven children except William (b 1816), Janet (b 1836) and Alexander (b 1840/1).
There are loads of online trees claiming that William married Elizabeth Liddle or Liddell. All of them are wrong. According to his death certificate, the William Pender married to Elizabeth Liddle or Liddell was the son of James Pender and Margaret Millar, not the son of William Pender and Bethia Storry. See attached.
Cultsykefoot http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1144210 though I doubt if this is the original house where the Penders lived. (James Walker McLean married a daughter of the poet Robert Burns)
Tarrydews no longer exists. It was south of Fauldhouse, a couple of hundred metres from the Breich Water. Its land is now part of Greenburn Golf Course.
Know(e)(s) too is no more. Its land is now a forest plantation, just north-west of Tarrydews.
See

Dura has also disappeared, though there still seem to be a place labelled Dura a few hundred metres away - see
http://www.geograph.org.uk/gridref/NS8655 - but the mid-Victorian map shows the original Dura close to what is now the route of a disused railway. See
