Mariansleigh in Devon is very similar....is there a name for the way the tower "cuts" into the nave roof?

... is there a name for the way the tower "cuts" into the nave roof?

Can't find one ... I think this "cut" is because the tower and the nave use a common wall, rather than the tower being built against the nave, or vice versa, at a different time.
