emma....  dont rely tooo much of birth years of censuses......   they are determined by "age known at last birthday" some folk or emmunerators wrote them anything to five years out....

I have put a search into findmypast there is an Ann Avenell in Cricklade St Sampson born 1832

I thought it was 1832, not 1836? Where have you see the latter?

I selected 1841 census on findmypast and it shows Ann Avenell birth year as 1836 in Swindon though but it's the only Ann Avenell on there for 1841 apart from one in Surrey which it surely can't be?
When you search 1851 census it gives an Ann Avenell with the birth year as 1832

There is a family in 1841 with father John Avenill a carrier living in Cricklade. No Ann, but a daughter Nancy aged 10. Nancy is often a nickname for Ann, so that could be the one in the 1851

Ok so that's a good sign! What do you think a carrier is with regards to John occupation?

Does this family appear in 1851 and if so is Nancy missing?! Hopefully so! And what is his occupation in 1851?
