Looking for Thomas Brookman (according to census records) born 1846-1849 in Tintern Abbey, Monmouthshire

I cant find his birth or mention of him before 1881 aged 35 married to Elizabeth Lavender and living in Eglwysilan, Glamorgan, Wales

Please could someone try to find his birth or appearance on a census before he was married. I dont know why I cant find him - amateur

Marriage registration index has him as Thomas Henry Brookman.  Who does the marriage name as his father.

There is a male Brookman registered in Chepstow district sept. 1848, no first name given, also a William John Brookman sept 1846

The index is all I have, at the moment, I didn't notice the middle name. Maybe it is the one you have found Mazi.

If you can find William John in the 1851 census he may have a brother Thomas of the correct age with him,

Despite its idyllic setting today, tintern had a wireworks then which attracted workers from around the area.

The churches shown on genuki are tintern parva St.michaels and chapel hill, but I could not see a baptism on familysearch.

This is really clutching at straws but familysearch has a George Brookman in 1861 census living in chapel hill. (Tintern). Described as nephew to head of household.  Born in Bristol.

Maybe your Thomas was not actually born in tintern,but remembers it from an early age, I don't have access to the 1861,so have no more details.

Hello everyone, well I bought the marriage certificate. It showed that Thomas Brookmans dad was John Brookman a parchment maker born in Bristol. Very interesting that family you found Giggsy. I had a look at John Brookman married to Elizabeth tamplin, same surname as the parents of the family the 13 year old George was staying with. John who married Elizabeth seems to have also been a parchment maker. Looks like John was known as George
