Ballyluchra Graveyard, Glanmire
« on: Thursday 02 July 15 18:40 BST (UK) »
Hello,

Would anyone know who I could contact for a burial registrar for Ballyluchra graveyard near Sallybrook in Glanmire?
My ancestors (Smyth) have a family plot there however only 2 of them are on the headstone, I am looking to find the date of death of my Great Grandmother Mary Smyth she died sometime in the 1940's, due to the commonness of her name and lack of an exact date or even year the Civil Registration office cannot find her death cert for me.

Have you tried contacting the Parish? the graveyard is mentioned here-

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

My sister contacted the parish about this last year they had no information, however it was only in the 1940's I find it hard to believe no records exist

If you search on irishgenealogy.ie for the death of Mary Smyth between 1940-1949, you get 103 returns.  Of these, only two are registered in Cork - one died in 1943 aged 51, the other in 1945 aged 65.  There are also two registered in Middleton aged 62 and 80.

If you know her age it might be possible to identify her from this search.

I know her age from her marriage cert in 1894 she was born in 1866. So only the Middleton Civil cert is a match however I paid to obtain this and that woman was listed as single - it is not the Mary Smyth my Great Grandmother who was a Widow at the time. I do know she died in a hospital but not sure where, my only way of finding the date for sure is through the burial records, I checked Cork Examiner records too - nothing recorded
