My pleasure, I thought it was him too but I was away earlier in the week and only quickly looked at the other Benjamin's children last night just to be on the safe side!

And yet again, thank you!

I'd seen a potential death entry for John in 1872 and as the address on the burial matches the 1871 census I'd have said this must be him, but those other children have got me completely baffled!   Sarah Ann was the name of one of Elizabeth's sisters, but she can't have still been having children at 50, surely?  Although I guess that could be Mary Ann's daughter.

I managed to get hold of a transcript for St Margaret to try & look for baptisms but its not proving very fruitful so far.  Is there another obvious church for the Wheat Street / Picadilly / Bedford Street area I should be looking at?

Have searched all I have including non-conformist and haven't got anywhere.

This did have me thinking Mary Ann

Many thanks for looking and for all the information so far.  I'll definitely order up the 1873 death certificate for Elizabeth, but with John being there too its looking a good bet that the informant will be Benjamin or Mary Ann.

I've just noticed that the burial date for Frank Moore Clarke is my birthday, so hopefully that's a good omen & he'll turn out to be the son of Mary Ann, although I've still not found her in the later census yet  :-\

Mary Ann has me going round in circles ???

me too  ;D ;D ;D

A few years out in age but there is a Mary Ann Clarke, single, aged 35 in the workhouse in 1881, & whilst it's probably just a coincidence the next person listed is Elizabeth Moore, an 80-year old widow.  Mary Ann appears to have died in the workhouse on 22 June 1883, aged 36.

I think Mary Ann is one I'm going to keep coming back to for years to come but will probably never solve, but I'll post an update if any of the certificates throw up anything new.
