Just in case you are not aware of this there is a publication at archive.org, Proceedings of the Commission Appointed to Enquire into the Past and Present State of the Kafirs in the District of Natal.

The book is printed and published by J. Archbell and Son at the office of the Natal Independent and Natal Government Gazette, Pietermaritzburg 1852, but also contains extensive testimony from the Rev. James Archbell who declares that he first arrived in the Cape Colony in 1818 as a Wesleyan missionary.

This link will take you directly to it, but you will need to search for Archbell (magnifying glass at top left) to find the testimony.

Yes, I've got that one of Joseph Haigh.  And I've just had a play with the photo you sent me, and put it side-by-side with the photo of James as the Mayor of PMB.  No doubt at all that your photo is of James.

And many thanks Alan, I'll have a look.
