I am afraid I don't have access to the 1861 but did find your George's death cert on Scotlandspeople details are as follows:
George Allan died February 15th 1875 in Birgham, parish of Eccles. aged 84.
his wife Agnes Allan nee Service had pre-deceased him
son Robert registered the death.
On the 1871 Census
George Allan, Blacksmith aged 80 born in Roxburgshire
Robert Allan Blacksmith single aged 36 born in Eccles
Mary Armstrong single aged 19 born in Kelso in Roxburgshire.
George Allan married Agnes Service on 31/01/1817 in Eccles.
