I thought I saw an "s" on the end of the word.

There is a Llay  on the road between Mold and Wrexham

I'm not very good with place names I don't know but it does look more like Cloy than Llay to me, but there is a possible 's' on the other record  :-\

I would say it's definitely Cloy, Bangor - on- Dee (not Llay which isn't in Overton). It used to be a very rural area with lots of farms.

My vote is for Cloy too. Yes, there appears to be an s at the end, bit I think the other letters look like C l o y.
