1911 census - how to identify name of institution from image on SP
« on: Thursday 30 July 15 19:46 BST (UK) »
Can someone explain to me (who is trying to help someone else...) how to find the address/location details from a SP image from the 1911 census? The index entry shows in Springburn and everything points to it being the Poorhouse facilities there (lots of very young children showing on the list).

Many thanks  :)

If the address is not shown on the census form (bottom right) then it may be because there are one or more pages for the site in question - I have usually found that you need to look at previous pages (In Ancestry we can click on an arrow to look at next or previous image) to find the first one and that may have the address in bottom right of form, or there may even be a front (cover) page with the address

Hi bertieburrell

Thank you for your info  :) Unlike Ancestry England & Welsh census images, you have to pay on Scotlands People to view each page. This census entry I am looking at for 1911 is in the middle there somewhere...

There is something you can click on when on an entry on SP, which I have seen before mentioned (but can't remember what it was) to give you the entry's 'header' (just remembered the name now!).

Remembering the word 'header' has opened up doors!

Searching anew, found this www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/content/help/index.aspx?r=554&629

Will let my friend know how to search further...
