I'm not sure about this first name but wonder if it is Rhoda.

Does anyone else have any thoughts?

Is it from a census? If so could you give us the reference details, names etc so we can have a look at the rest of the writing on the page.

Hi Ruskie - It's from a June 1865 marriage register (Thomas Atkins/Sarah Bailey - Tamworth Staffordshire) and its the first name of a witness signature done by the witness. The last name has been clearly written Bailey and there is nothing else written in that hand to compare it to.

The other Bailey names in the register are the Bride's Father - Samuel Bailey - and another witness - Joshua Bailey.

Had a look through that list of names - good thing I'm no longer looking for babies names since I rather liked the name Rue
