The soldier that John is interested in is William Harrison Watt, born Airdrie on 28 October 1881.  There are no Watts in the Royal Marines Registers of Service Index, 1842-1925 with that birthdate.

Hi John, that puts a different light on it, it may well be as ShaunJ say's the KOSB  ;D although the centre of the badge looks to stand out like a RM badge.

Is this Royal Marine Territory ?

Gosport is in Hampshire? Portsmouth is in Hampshire? "Royal Marine Barracks" Eastney is also there, Just something else to make it a bit more foggy  ;D

Ought to consider Suffolk Regiment. KOSB, didn't they wear glengarries and tam o'shanters or whatever.
Griffiths Llandogo, Mitcheltroy, Mon. and Whitchurch Here (Also Edwards),  18th C., Griffiths FoD 19th Century.
