« on: Monday 03 August 15 15:32 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for an Eleanor or Ellen or Elinor Davies with parents Sarah jones and David rowlands. Born 1836-8 ish at Llanycil. Does anyone have her in their tree or can do Llanycil parish records?

There is this one - Ellin daughter of David and Ellin Rowland, a drover, of Brag-dy, Llanycil, baptised on 26th December 1838.

Thanks but mother is definitely a Sarah.

I'd be hugely grateful if you could look up more of the siblings.

I have other siblings of Sarah JONES and David ROWLANDS - seem to have two surnames DAVIES or ROWLANDS. Surnames can be switched due to the Welsh patronymic naming system which is a major headache here.

Dates from various census are as follows:
Edmund or Edmunt DAVIES b 1821
Morris Davies b 1829
Margaret DAVIES b 1830-1833
Anne DAVIES b 1838/9 or 1834/5
David ROWLANDS b 1826-1829
Elinor or Ellen b 1836-8
Rowland DAVIES b 1823-7
Sarah ROWLANDS b 1839/40
Ellis DAVIES b 1834-1843??

I have a will that states Will of Sarah ROWLANDS late of Foel Ortho, Wales
I Sarah ROWLANDS of Foel Ortho in the parish of Hirnant in the County of Montgomery declare this is my last Will and Testament.  I do hereby give to my son Morris DAVIES of Llwyn-y-brain in the parish of Pennant in the County of Montgomery the sum of three hundred pounds for his own use absolutely and forever.  I also give to each of my following children herein named the sum of five pounds ???????. To my son Edmund DAVIES of Fedwrogg, Bala in the County of Merioneth I give the sum of five pounds.  Also to my son Rowland DAVIES of Rhydgithin, Llandrillo in the County of Merioneth I give the sum of five pounds.  Also to my daughter Margaret ROBERTS of Pantdedwydd, Corwen in the County of Merioneth I give the sum of five pounds.  Also to my daughter Anne LLOYD of Llechwedd-du, Harlech in the County of Merioneth I give the sum of five pounds.  Also to my daughter Ellen DAVIES I give the sum of five pounds.  I also give and bequeath all the residue of my personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever  and of what mature and quality soever to my two sons David ROWLANDS and Ellis DAVIES of Foel Ortho in the parish of Hirnant in the County of Montgomery to be divided equally between them as they may think best for their own use absolutely and forever.  And I hereby appoint my two sons David ROWLANDS and Ellis DAVIES to be Executors of this my will at the same time revoking all former and other Wills, Codicils Testamentary dispositions and appointments whatsoever by me at anytime heretofore made. In witness whereof I have hereunder set my hand this fourth day of May One thousand and eight hundred and eighty three.

Thanks

Sue

I can only find two baptisms:-

Edmund Rowlands - 2nd September 1821 at Llanycil,  parents of ??lldu gerrig? (presumably Fildir Gerig as above)
Morris Rowland - 17th February 1829 at Llanycil, parents of Gwern Adda, farmers.

The 1871 census gives the places of birth as Llanycil and 1881 as Merioneth.
The index usually gives the surname as that of the parents and so should all show as Rowland(s)

I still can't find any more baptisms but I have found a burial for Sarah

Sarah Rowlands of Fedw'r Gog, buried on 3rd July 1848 age 9.

The family was living there in 1851 - http://www.cottageguide.co.uk/fedwrgog/
