Use to be Dock Master

Can anyone help with info concerning Norman Scobie b.1905ish.
In 1962 he was on marriage certificate as being Dock Master at King's Lynn.
Would appreciate any info

I can't see a candidate in England/Wales to fit with your dates. But in Scotland there's a birth in 1905 and a death in 1975 (aged 70), as well as a 1911 Scottish census that might fit.

If you want to pursue these, I think you will need to buy credits on ScotlandsPeople to find more details.

Hi   why oh why did I take your advice..........
Keen to know about my ancestor I paid £7 to 'Scotlands People', my blood pressure has soared. I have found their website totally confusing they 'take' credits off your balance for the least thing, I have used half my credits and havn't viewed ANYTHING, I actually got the title of the 1911 census but it wouldn't let me view it........I have complained to them bitterly asking for my money back, they said NO. And according to them they don't have a eath record for Norman Scobie !!!!!!!
I am not best pleased, its a terrible site.

I really don't think you can blame Scotland's People or the advice given here for your mistakes 

If bookbox said they found a 1905 birth, 1975 death and possible 1911 census record on the site then they were there. Perhaps you didn't search properly and explain yourself well enough to the site when complaining.

You may not be pleased now but Scotland's People is a fantastic site.

Just to check for myself I searched for the 1905 birth (as if I didn't have a year)-
1) selected statutory births then put in Norman (first name) Scobie (last name)- 5 results
2) narrowed down dates to 1900-1910- 2 results
3) narrowed down dates to 1902-1908- 1 result
4) finally narrowed down to 1905- 1 result
I stopped there but could have gone further checking by district for a match

Added- also found the 1975 Norman Scobie death in the index with no bother

Hi can anyone add any information about Norman Claude Scobie in his later life?  He apparently died in  Jersey Channel Isles in 1986. My interest is the time around the 1960's when he supposedly married a relation of mine!
