Ann Stringfellow nee Fletcher
« on: Thursday 06 August 15 10:17 BST (UK) »
Ann Fletcher married John Stringfellow January 5 1824 in Worksop. John died in 1839.
In 1841, I have Ann living in Worksop and her DOB in about 1801 in Nottinghamshire. In 1851, Ann's DOB is about 1809 and was born in Scotland.
The '61 census gives her DOB as about 1804 in Carburton in Nottinghamshire and then the '71 census gives her DOB as about 1802 in Clumber, Nottinghamshire.

I've tried searching for Ann Fletcher's baptism in all these places (except Scotland) and I have found absolutely nothing!
The problem is that none of the censuses are consistent with her date and place of birth and I don't know what to look at next.

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated,
Betty  ;D

Do you have her marriage certificate Betty? does it give her father's name?

Could she have been Mary Ann? - baptism 11/10/1802 Wesleyan Methodist in Nottingham for Mary Ann Fletcher, parents Nathan and Hanah.

Marriage was prec1837, so there will be no cert.

But who were the witnesses?
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

I am not sure this will be of any help and you may already have it.
Burial Worksop
7-4-1876 Ann Stringfellow aged 75.

John & Ann baptised 7 children at Worksop Priory the abode for all was Lead Hill and John was a blacksmith.
Burial Worksop
21-11-1839 John Stringfellow aged 39 abode Lead Hill.

Carburton is a small village on the edge of Clumber Park, Carburton to Worksop is 4.6 miles ( AA route finder)

Baptism Worksop St Mary
17-10-1800 born 16-10-1800 John S O Samuel & Ann Stringfellow, 4  siblings baptised.

I have looked for Ann Fletchers baptism too and like you can come up with jiggery all. I did wonder if she was a widow, but can find no marriage or death of a husband that would fit the criteria.
There are NO baptisms for Fle*r at Carburton 1800 +-10 years.
