Were your BALDWINS by any chance lawyers?  I have Baldwins as kind of distant connections in my tree, but I also have RANDALL from Oxfordshire,  and a complicated network of intermarriage between families from Bristol, London, Surrey and Oxfordshire who obviously knew each other through law connections.  If you also have any of these other surnames then I'll search out my records a bit more.  BIGG, DESBOROUGH, GREEN, JAMES, TITE, CURTIS, OLIVER, DEVAS, EVERINGTON
