Wladyslaw Thier
« on: Monday 17 August 15 20:09 BST (UK) »
This former WW2 Polish airman died in Nottingham in about 1986.  He married Rose Craske in about 1957.  Can anyone help with a little more detail, I am trying to find out as much about him as I can for his family in Poland.  One thing I do know is that he was on 304 Squadron's first ever bombing mission (from RAF Syerston).  He later transferred to 300 Squadron and was awarded the Virtuti Militari - Poland's highest award for bravery.  Any information would be greatly appreciated

There were 3 children born to Wladyslaw & Rose - one before they married and 2 very shortly after

Thanks Carole

I am a bit confused by this.  It looks like one of the children was recorded twice - once with the mother's name as Wright and once with her name as Craske.  These were her maiden name and first married name respectively.  Can't mention the child's names as they are both younger than me and probably still living.  But it is a starting point - thank you

First husband seems to have re-married in 1947 so a shortlived marriage

Curiouser and curiouser!  It shows that you should never make assumptions!  I assumed/guessed that her first husband might have been killed during the war.  But your last message proves that wrong.

I am researching this for Wladyslaw Thier's family in Poland so I am hopeful that I will be able to make contact with one, or both, of these children.  But obviously not on this forum.  Back to the drawing board!

The son born 1950 died 1999 in Notts only one month after his mother

Rose died 1.8.1999 and son Peter Thomas died 10.9.1999

The surviving child, a female, will probably have married and changed her surname.  More difficult, but not impossible, to track!
