Athlone: Looking for Maria Hood
« on: Tuesday 18 August 15 11:58 BST (UK) »
My GGG Grandmother, Maria Hood was probably married to a Royal Artillery Driver, Edward Hood in Athlone in May 1811.  It could well have been a military marriage and records are no longer available.  Edward Hood was born in Antrim, but I suspect Maria was an Athlone girl and possibly the daughter of a soldier.  Irish naming conventions suggest her mother was Catherine.  Maria Hood went on to live in Dublin and Woolwich.  I have been trying to trace Maria's maiden name for many years and wonder if there is another family out there searching the said Maria?

Hi Dathai,

The Maria Hood you've found married in 1851 is, indeed, a relation.  She is the daughter of the Maria Hood I am looking for.  What is your interest?

Thanks,
Mike F
