HISCOCK FAMILLY at Hurst, Wokingham

Greetings: I am researching the Hiscock family at Hurst, Wokingham. I need assistance on finding any info on Peter Hiscock born ~1805 to Thomas Hiscock and Elizabeth Knowlton.  Any info on Peter's siblings (if any), parents, and forefathers would be much appreciated.

I presently have info on all three of Peter's marriages (all at Hurst): Charlotte Meades (1833), Hannah Claridge Herne (1838), and Esther Higgs (1851).  Plus I have info on his 7 children & step-children (all born at Hurst): Isaac Claridge (1831), Charles Herne (1837), George Hiscock (1839), Henry Hiscock (~1842), Mary Ann Hiscock (1845), Peter Hiscock (~1849), and Emma Hiscock (1852).

There is a baptism on FindMyPast for a Peter Hiscock 16/6/1799 born Minstead Hampshire. Father Thomas Mother Elizabeth. There is also a tree on Ancestry with him in it using this baptism info.

Paco, I reviewed the 1841 and 1851 Hurst censuses and they suggest he was born ~1806. Respectively, the census data show Peter Hiscock's age and birthplace as being 35, born in Berkshire (1841) and 46, born at Hurst, Berkshire (1851).   So although the Hampshire name and parents fit, the birthdate and birthplace in Hampshire do not.

I have now found conflicting birthplace info on Peter Hiscock in the 1881 census. Here he is visiting two daughters at Southwark, London. He is listed as being 78 and born in Hampshire!! So, why conflicting info in the earliest census?

Hi Ian,

I don't know if you are aware but the are some Hurst transcripts available on-line;

The above works for me although previously I had a different address and had to go searching for this.
There are some "Hiscocks" listed.

Just tried the address and may not work - unfortuantely - but try a web search & see if you can find them.
