Hi again. What's the MI??
Catherine died on August 24th 1901, aged 101 and 11 months. 114 years ago today. 535/00 0022
children:
Alexander 12/12/1828 as noted in previous post. When he married 02/12/1862 his father was listed as deceased.
other children are as follows, but I have no birth dates confirmed yet.

Angus McDougall
1832 – 1895

Mary McDougall
1835 – 1922

Ronald McDougall
1837 – 1891

Malcolm McDougall
1840 – 1927

Lachlan McDougall
1844 – 1867
I know it's incomplete, but john's death is the one I just cannot trace.
I do use Scotland's people, but maybe just need to narrow the search a bit to one relative at a time! Can't run when learning to walk.
Mary

I did see Catherine's death on the same site. Is she in the same plot ?

It is possible from what you mentioned in an earlier post of John being of "ill health" that he may have died in hospital outside the area your searching and may have been registered in a different area.........just a thought  ???

Annie

ADDED.........Do you have Catherine's death cert. confirming she was indeed the widow of John  ???

I'm hoping that that is a link to the photo.  If not I'll write it out longhand.

yes to question on Catherine... she raised the stone to John, and was buried there too.

I tried SP with:
Surnames that beginning with M
Forename John (Forenames that begin with)
County Argyll
All Districts

Brought up 157 matches. (7 pages) on the Index which = £1.61 which is worth a try although not a guarantee but cheapest way to search all Argyll  :-\

Sorry, I couldn't read the Headstone  ::)

Mary,

The reason for asking where Alexander was living is, the family may have moved since 1851 census.

You haven't said where they were in other census' after 1851  ???

If any family were elsewhere, John & Catherine may have been with a daughter or son for that matter, helping to look after their sick father  ???

Hi Mary,

From your PM.........Catherine seems to be in Tarbert for the censuses up to 1891, then she does not appear in 1901, months before her death from senile decay.

Catherine missing from 1901 just prior to her death may be simply that she had reverted back to her maiden name/was asleep/didn't hear the door when the enumerator called  ???
You have her death cert. so you know she was still alive then.

What was the age (yr born) given 1841 & 1851 for John  ??? & what was the age given for Catherine on each of the census until 1891 ???

Just to see how consistent the ages were ???

Can you give us the details for the death certs. for John you have already viewed please which are wrong ???

Hi Mary,

From your PM.
"LACHLAN McDOUGALL DROWNED MARCH 25 1867" on MI.

What was the date on his death cert.  ???

It's not as unusual as you think. I have one with wrong yr on MI.
