William SPINKS in Grenadier guards circa 1871

Thank you Ken. I have previously visited Kew, and had pre-requested, and looked at some muster roll books from a Shropshire Reg in the 1830's for a WELLS soldier, and it was quite successful, the information about the regiments and their month to month movements and procurement was fascinating, but I knew exactly which regiment, and his attestation and discharge  record had survived. I lost track of him in the latter part of his service, and felt that he could be found, it was just a question of spending the time widening the search. I assume the access to the Grenadiers records is restricted, so no public access, having said that it costs £32  to get to London and back

It seems the Grenadiers still charge £30. The Coldstreams charge £32 I believe.
