The Spiers of Tetsworth
« on: Thursday 03 September 15 22:35 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

I'm trying to find siblings for William Spiers who was born in Tetsworth (AKA Hambleden) in around 1798. I believe his father to be another William born around 1768, also in Tetsworth, and his mother was Catherine. Any more info on the parents would also be much appreciated.

As far as siblings are concerned, I have one possible candidate; a thatcher, Thomas Spiers, born in Tetsworth around 1806 and living in Great Hasely in 1861. His son may be Joseph Spiers, a baker, living in Great Hasely at the same time but only 40 years old.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi
From the transcribed PR's for St Giles Church, Tetsworth I can see the following which appear to be yours.
 I looked between 1780 and 1820.
The last name is recorded as SPIERS or SPIRES.
All baptisms and the one burial I have entered below are all entered as d o or dtr or s o William and Catherine:

Mary 6 Aug 1795    poor (in the margin)
Christian 6 Nov 1796 - specifically states this was a dtr
Elizabeth 30 Aug 1798 - Buried 28 Apr 1800
William 22 June 1800
Elizabeth 23 Oct 1803
Thomas 8 Nov 1807
James 15 Jan 1809
Joseph 10 March 1811

Hope this helps?

and finally in regard to William senior

This looks like his baptism and his Mums name ties in nicely with one of his names chosen for his 2nd child?

Again in Tetsworth

11 April 1773 William s o John & Christian

That's fantastic, NDRFT. Thank you for you help.

I can now flesh out the other Spiers families now I know where they fit in.
