Hi Alexanderina

One thing that might help people when seeing if they have a connection or info is perhaps to add a little more detail on William and wife Elizabeth, such as dates and their parents' names etc. When and where did they die? What was William's occupation. Any of these details can help others connect to the info here.

From what you say, their son, your friend in Canada is still alive so good not to mention anything personal about him (as you have already made sure you didn't here  ;)).

Thank you Monica for your quick reply. This is what my friend knows about his father William Wilson and mother. His father died  22/2/1944 and had worked at Hallside Steel Works. His mother was Beatrice Wilson born about August 1909 and died about 1948. He is looking to find any ancestors as he has no knowledge of his families past and would like to know where they came from.
Thank you Alexanderina.

Hi Alexandrina,

Just to elaborate on Monica's input.

Hi

In your opening post you say
Quote
William Wilson/Elizabeth Waugh McNeil
but you later say his mother was Beatrice.

Was your friend born in Scotland?  His birth cert will give his mothers maiden name

Did his parents marry in Scotland?

How old was his father when he died in 1944?

If his parents married in Scotland - their marriage cert will give you the names of their parents and their mothers maiden names

If his parents died in Scotland - copies of their respective death certs will give the same parental info

Scotlands People shows one match to a William Wilson death in 1944 in Cambuslang but without knowing his birthyear it's impossible to know whether it's the right entry - assuming he died in Scotland and not Canada?

Just adding to Carole's info.

I took it that Elizabeth was William's wife & (William's) parents were also a William & Beatrice  :-\  ???

The marriage will have witnesses......possible other family members too which can help to expand on the family & usually gives their (witnesses) residence although not always full address.
