Photo restoration and approximate date please of this photograph of Bolton
« on: Tuesday 08 September 15 18:46 BST (UK) »
I am researching the history of my son's house and I think I have found it in this photograph. In order to be sure I need to look at the brickwork as many alterations have been made over the years and show up in the different size and texture of the bricks. I believe my son's house is the first one on the right.  I like the sepia colour but the brickwork may be clearer in black and white. Any help in improving the photo would be much appreciated.  Also are there any clues in the picture as to the date. I thought probably late 1800s but not sure.
Many thanks -   Thornwood

No Sarah it is a small village in East Yorkshire near to Pocklington.  That has been one of the problems I have encountered in my research, so many Boltons.

Is that a ladder leaning against the house?

Thankyou so much for the restoration, becoming so much clearer I am noticing so much more of the detail. Yes I think it is a ladder, the wooden ones always seemed to taper towards the top.  My son is a very keen cyclist so to find a picture of his house one hundred years ago with a bike parked outside is brilliant.
