Thank you for all your thoughts on this - it is confusing and quite difficult.

The birth certificate only refers to May Schofield.  However, in the 1911 census, I could only find six May Schofields (allowing for May as a second name) in Rochdale.  The Olive May Schofield that I have focussed on seems to be the only one from a family that could have afforded to send their daughter from Rochdale to Birmingham for the birth and to have had such contacts.  The others have fathers who are labourers or in apparently lower paid jobs - I assume that there would be much easier and cheaper locations for these daughters to be sent to have a baby out of wedlock.

Oh, the uncertainty of it all !

Thank you for this additional info  :)

There are these births registered to Horridge, mother Schofield from FreeBMD.

Births Mar 1924
Horridge    Edna    Schofield    Bolton    8c   522
Births Mar 1926
Horridge    John W S S    Schofield    Bury    8c   784a
Horridge    Male    Schofield    Bury    8c   784
Stan

I take it that these births are not relevant?

Ok, thank you - this does seem to clearly link Walter Horridge to the family at Buersil House.

Time to think again !

Hi, I hope you don’t mind me adding to this thread however, I’m interested in if there’s any additional information on Olive Middleton Schofield? Did she have any children etc?
She appears to have left Buersil House and moved into a property very close by in the late 1930’s but just wondering if there’s any further information around this?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks 😊
