Laptop problem after "hibernation"

I tend to leave my laptop on "hibernate" during the day and today when I went to wake it up there were several white lines flashing across the screen.

This continued on and off for a few minutes and it seems to have stopped now.  This happened once before a couple of weeks ago.

My laptop is a Dell, about 6 years old.

Any idea what the problems is and how it can be resolved.............or should I bite the bullet and buy a replacement?

It may be the flexible connections which connect  the base and flat part of the laptop to the screen section?

If over the years you have opened and closed the screen a lot,   then the flexing may have "cracked"    one or more  of  the connections. Do you see what I mean?


It may just be a coincidence  that the laptop had hibernated,  possibly.

I may be wrong.    But a while ago something similar happened to one of my laptops.

Probably time to buy a new one, sorry.

If you have   a HDMI  cable   ( I think I am right  with that abbreviation)  you could think about connecting the lap top to another screen   and see if it works..

I suspect that a new one is on the cards; can't grumble as it has served me well.

If you're fond of your lappy, and if it's the screen, then they are replaceable for around £90, I think...........

I think a new laptop will be purchased.......a lot of the keys are worn away ....it's showing a lot of wear and tear and dear old dad left me a little inheritance. 

I didn't realise screens could be replaced.......learn something every day!
