can anyone help clean up and possibly date this old pic please ?
 i think they may have been my gg grandparents- parkers  around 1850
there is lettering embossed on the bottom but cant make it out

I don't know if your family is from South Africa, but I believe the writing is the name and place of the photographer -
 Forbes Pietermaritzburg  Natal.

thank you very much so i now have the date of 1872 to 1894 and cant be mr parker as he passed in 1861 but could still be the right era for his widow who remarried
wow south Africa what on earth were they doing there  ;D

Hi Kath, I'm sure one of the Rootschat photo dating experts will be able to narrow the time frame down a bit more from the style of the clothes etc.

Kath, I hope you can trace who these people are, it is so frustrating having these early photos and not knowing who they are, I have an album full!!

it may be my imagination but i see a likeness with the lady and my g grandmother
i can now show the revamped versions to my aunty who wouldnt have been able to see it before
