Hi history2015,
I haven't found where she is buried but there are a few stories in NZ papers about how she died and that there was to be an inquest.

Just in case you didn't have the details, here is one example

Hi,

Haven't yet been able to sight her resting place, but the below states Wanganui.

Source   NZSG Cemetery Fiche
Surname : MUMBY
Given Names :   Florence Evangile
Year of Death :   1886
Record Number    : N/R
Record Type :   Newspaper cutting
Age :   N/R
Location :   Wanganui - U34

U34 is the number of the Cemetery Fiche.  My Cemetery Book telling me where the location is, is packed away as I am in the process of moving.

Cheers

Husband Richard was a member of the Ancient Order of Foresters (Lodge or Friendly Society)- see attached funeral notice.  Hawera & Normanby Star, Volume VII, Issue 1254, 11 March 1886, Page 3

I can't see him buried amongst the Mumby s in New Plymouth, Stratford, or South Taranaki Cemeteries.

Were they both sent off somewhere else ?

If Richard, the husband died in 1929 I believe he is buried in Auckland, Waitakere, Waikumete cemetery. No sign of Florence.

Having read the newspaper cuttings of the time - and seen the, above, invite to the funeral, I noted that it was never said where.... which means there must be only ONE cemetery in that town at that time.  So she must be buried in the oldest cemetery, there being only one at the time.

If there were more than one, it'd have been mentioned by name.

Hi KHP

"U34" relates to the "Composite Transcriptions" (NZSG Cemetery Records).    These Composite Transcriptions are made up "usually of newspaper extracts or monumentalist's records" covering a wider area than one county.  "U34" relates to Wanganui area, so likely this "MUMBY - 1886" record comes from local newspaper articles relating to her tragic death ?
