There is a John Bath (could be a mistranscription or name change, like 1841 census) on FreeReg baptised on the 24 May 1795 in Publow, parents: William & Sarah. Seems like the only possible one in the parish.  :-\

There's a John Batt baptised at Pensford in 1803, son of Richard and Ann.

(Pensford and Publow were very closely linked. He could easily be baptised in one but give his birthplace as the other.)

I'm afraid there's a burial in Pensford of a John Batt, son of Richard and Ann, on the 15 April 1804.

Hi
This one looks a tricky one. The baptism in 1795 is about 7 to 10 years out on the censuses
The only marriage I can find for john and Sarah was in Bristol 1823.
Their 1st child was born in 1830 about 7 years after they got married and their last child was born in 1843. so john and his wife must've been touching nearly 50years old when they had their last child.

John 1840 and Sarah 1843 sub district Chew Magna mothers maiden name Branch

They were both baptised at Publow with parents John and Sarah, he a labourer. (FreeREG)
The parents were given as 47 and 52 in the 1851 census, a child at age 44 is quite possible. The later censuses make her a little younger.

John Batt and Sarah Branch were married at St Mary Redcliffe on 6 Apr 1830, quite consistent with a first child born 30 Aug 1830.

Sally Branch was baptised at Publow 15 May 1803, daughter of Henry and Elizabeth
