Watkins and Pugh families in Ganarew, Hereford - 17th and 18th century.
« on: Thursday 08 October 15 21:29 BST (UK) »
I've researched back 7 generations to my g-g-g-g-g-grandfather Peter Watkins, born in 1730, who married Joan Pugh in Ganarew, Hereford in April 1753. He had two sons, John (1750-1819) and Thomas (1756-?), both of whom were born in Cwmgarvan, Monmouthshire.

I have unconfirmed information that Peter's father was Walter Watkins (born about 1699).

If anyone can help me go back any further or guide me towards anyone who has links to the family, I would be more than happy to share my findings.

I am unable to find a birth record for Peter, where did you find his year of 1730?

I did come across a Walter Watkins Or Meek baptised 10 Feb 1698 Pipe and Lyde
Herefordshire, parents John Watkins & Izard Meek.

I could not find a baptism for John but I did find Thomas below:

THOMAS WATKINS   1 Aug 1756
Father Peter   Mother Joan
PENYCLAWDD   Monmouthshire

I’m not sure if you have the following possible deaths but they might be helpful but sadly no ages.

PETER WATKINS Burial 13 Dec 1771 DINGESTOW, Monmouthshire.
The record simply states “a married man”

WATKINS    JOAN    1777    Grosmont, Monmouthshire

WATKINS    JOAN    1812    Llangattock Lingoed, Monmouthshire

Colin
Clarke, Trickett, Orton, Lawless, Norton, Detheridge, Kirby, Goodfellow, Wagstaff, Lowe, etc.
