Pitchwork - Where was it in Bothkennar in 1869?
« on: Thursday 08 October 15 23:16 BST (UK) »
I have an 1869 birth record for a James Buchanan HADDOW (Fa = John; Mo = Margaret) and the record says they were living at Pitchwork, Bothkennar. The record is a fairly good one, I think I am reading the place name correctly.
Does anyone know where this place might be?

Thank you

Possibly in Carronshore which lay within Bothkennar Parish? See here http://www.falkirklocalhistorysociety.co.uk/home/index.php?id=106
(fourth paragraph)

Sandy:

Many many thanks. I don't think I would haver found that in a month of Sundays! That location fits perfectly for the family as I have found them.
Cheers.
