I am the daughter of:  Ivy Elizabeth Emma Rutter and Frank Frederick Smith.
All information that I know of in the posts definitely is them.   I grew up at 96-27th Street, Long Branch as posted.   I did not know my parents were not married till my mother died at age 85.
Jamie - more secrets - just as you were told my mom moved back to England upon my father's & your grand fathers death.  Had it not been a leap year then I would have been born on his birthday 1st March.

All the other names that Eileen Wilison found for 27th Street were people that lived on the second floor of the house. It was a one bedroom flat.  Most from what I remember were short term renters.
My mother is buried beside my father (he went by Frank but I do remember that his middle name was Frederick) in Glendale.  Not surprised that there was no mention of us in Roses's obit as there never was any contact after my father's death with anyone.  I was 8 years old then & only tried to talk to her about his family a couple of times & she got really upset.  No wounder, she must have been afraid all her life I would find out they were not married.  So sad.  I do know that my grandfather's name was
Charles Stuart Rutter.   I have a photograph of him as a little boy - my mother wrote on the back of it.  Hope to hear soon from Jamie.   Lynne
