1785 Marriage Look-up

Pallot's Marriage Index has the 1785 marriage of Thos Gibson & Alice Dey or Day, with the parish given only as T ?? Rutland.   Can anyone help with any further information?

According to the LRFHS transcript CD the parish was Whissendine on 19 Aug 1785 and both were of that parish.  Alice's surname is listed as Dey.

Now there's just the small job of figuring out if its the right Thomas & Alice

No sign of any children baptised to Thomas and Alice in any of the 3 volumes of transcripts for Rutland.  Alice is likely to be the one baptised to Thomas and Elizabeth Day in Whissendine in 1765.

Thank you again.  That lends strength to the possibility that this could be the right marriage.  I have a Thomas & Alice Gibson in who first appear in Twyford in Feb 1786 at the baptism of their son, also named Thomas.  Their other children were Elizabeth, John, William & Mary.

The Thomas Gibson who married Alice may be the son of William & Elizabeth Gibson of Oakham, who had three children in Oakham and then possibly two in Whissendine.

Its early days but its looking interesting.

Alice is likely to be the one baptised to Thomas and Elizabeth Day in Whissendine in 1765.

Looking very good indeed.  Thomas either died or deserted Alice around 1803 and she remarried in 1810.  Her age at death ties back to a 1765 birth, so it looks like a good time to invest in those Rutland CD's.  I couldn't have made the connection without your help, so thank you.
