According to a FamilySearch family tree, William Johnson married Jane Bowen in Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan, Wales on July 31, 1802, but I am looking for a source of this information. The tree suggests that both William and Jane were born in Ireland (unknown location) and died in Orillia, Canada.

According to the same tree children from this marriage were:
(1) John Johnson (1801-) born in Killynumbie, Londonderry, Ireland
(2) Mathew Johnson (1803-1885) born in Sligo, Ireland m. Helen Boyd about 1825 Ireland
(3) William Johnson (1803-) born in Killynumbie, Londonderry, Ireland

(5) Mary Ann Johnson (1807-) " "
(6) Mathew Johnson (1808-) " "

Hi from the Glamorgan Marriage Index pre 1837 Transcription on the 31st July 1802 Merthyr Tydfil a Jane Bowen  married, on the same date a William JOHN married Merthyr Tydfil, on both transcriptions no spouse/bride is shown?

The above marriage but with only a year is on FamilySearch William John to Jane Bowen

Rosie, are you able to tell me what information is included on the findmypast record?

I am trying to confirm that this couple are the correct parents for Mathew Johnson who married Boyd. I am suspicious because the FamilySearch record says he was born in Sligo, Ireland while the rest of his sibilings were born in Killynumbie, Londonderry, Ireland.

Hi as per my reply above, the marriage was by the reading of Banns, both were of this parish ( But that only means they  had to be resident for the required time)
Both witnesses were not family.

Thanks, keyboard86. The supports the birth information in Ireland rather than Wales. Although, according to my research there were Bowen's in Glamorgan, Wales during this time.

   Hi again in 1841 their were approximately 600 Male John's and the same number of female Bowen's in Glamorganshire, not too unusual a Welsh surname?!

There is another tree on familysearch which states Jane was born in Merthyr

These trees are notoriously unreliable and rarely backed up by records but this one certainly makes more sense than any with an Irish connection.
