TO Sue,William Small is not in our tree I found that early in my searching!
           To JM thanks for that info about J.A.SMALL and my wife meet her great grandmother Mary May SMALL in her later years and said she had the complexion of mahogeny...but of course that could just be the sun and I think the aboriginal suggestion came from your panel.

Girls aged 14 years (and even younger) are able to have children.

Sometimes when a young lass without husband had a baby, the child was raised by others, even the girl's parents. Other times the child assumed the name of the man the lass married even if it was a couple of years later.

Only speculating here.

Go back in this thread to Reply#13 posted by whiteout7 and click on the blue writing.

The page will open to Family Search document and you will see the words about aboriginal.

So, it was not the idea of anyone here at all.
